Stimulus Farce

If the Squad and other Progressives were smart, they would realize that they could control what Nancy Pelosi brings to the floor of the House the entire 1st term of the Joe Biden presidency. The numbers in the House are that close, where Democrats can’t afford to lose 5 votes.

Keep this in mind.

Please also keep in mind, despite all the gaslighting, that Nancy Pelosi deliberately killed a second stimulus with $1200 checks, enhanced unemployment income extension, and other benefits to avoid giving Trump a pre-election win.

Also note Speaker Pelosi’s last line: “by unanimous consent”. By forcing the payments to be voted on under unanimous consent, Speaker Pelosi is angling to kill the direct payments. If she wanted it to pass, she could run the direct payments via simple majority under existing house rules. Instead, she’s deliberately using her power as Speaker of the House to make it so a single representative, Republican or otherwise, can kill the direct payments.

Furthermore, despite not having time to read the 5.593 page bill, every Democrat except Rashida Tlaib and Tulsi Gabbard voted for the latest stimulus. Every. Single. One. This includes AOC, who had complained about not having time to read it. To contrast, 50 Republicans and the independent Justin Amash voted against. https://clerk.house.gov/Votes/2020251

Here’s a fellow journalist’s take:

Again, despite complaining on Twitter about not being able to read the bill, AOC voted for it.

Here’s some receipts on that.

Furthermore, the bill is full of waste and imperialism. It includes 4,400,000 for former presidents. As we all know, former presidents are a highly at-risk community and should always been prioritized first in crisis relief spending, or something. Sorry, running out of inner centrism™ to finish formulating on why former presidents are a priority in a supposed “relief” bill.

In case you were wondering why this bill only had $600 direct payments, you can look to President-elect Joe Biden. According to the New York Times, he wanted to show command of Congress as the incoming president and pressured House Dems to cut it down to the magical $600.

While we’re on the topic of the President-elect, his team recently announced that he will not be reversing Trump-era immigration policies on day one, despite his campaign promise to do so.

In other words, the kids will remain in cages under the Biden administration. This shouldn’t come as much shock to those of us who already knew that Obama & Biden were responsible for pioneering the kids in cages and “softer” forms of the policies Trump put forth.

Don’t forget, the bill contains tons of imperialism.

It even has $33M for couping Venezuala, again.

They also snuck in text that criminalizes streaming and makes sharing things likes memes a felony with a minimum $30k fine. Of course, this criminalization will be used selectively, much like the War on Drugs is selectively enforced to punish black, brown, and poor communities disproportionately
