Censorship a la AOC

“AOC is effectively serving as the gatekeeper for the establishment. Her impact has been popularizing “progressivism” while covertly limiting the definition of acceptable “progressivism” to her brand of pro-imperialism, pro-DNC, pro-blue-fascism politics.”

We currently have all sorts of people, from Democrats to progressives to “the left” cheering on corporate censorship and the unchecked powers of tech companies to determine acceptable discourse. This includes former progressive firebrand Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

This author calls “AOC” a former progressive for myriad reasons. She voted for Nancy Pelosi’s speakership twice (despite promising not to), has voted to fund ICE,  has backed down on Medicare for All, calling for vague and undefined “healthcare” instead now, has called for sanctions aka economic warfare on China, and has called for the US government to mandate how Tibet recognizes the Dalai Lama (it was buried in the latest “stimulus bill”). She also voted for the largest discretionary budget the Pentagon has seen, in 2019.

AOC voted for the latest stimulus bill, which had $33M for coup-ing, I mean “democracy programs for” Venezuela, further restrictions and penalties on streaming and copyright violation, doubling the healthcare budget for congress but no healthcare for you, and $4.4M for former presidents, among other harmful pork. Receipts below:

It is this author’s opinion that no real progressive should ever, under any pretext, vote for Nancy Pelosi as speaker. Factually, the combined “Squad” had the votes to prevent her speakership, while the GOP did not have the votes to select a GOP speaker without Democratic Party votes. The squad could’ve refused to vote for Pelosi as many times as it took to get a different, more acceptable choice like Barbara Lee to become the compromise choice for speaker. Instead, many activists asked and pressured the squad to simply exchange their existing plan to vote for Pelosi for a floor vote on Medicare for all. This would’ve given grassroots organizers evidence, and therefore ammunition, to help primary challengers in 2022.

AOC’s Green New Deal was watered down from the original policy drafted in 2010 by Howie Hawkins, the 2020 Green Party US presidential nominee, and made into an imperialist-friendly document. “The Green New Deal is another example of the political function of Ocasio-Cortez and the DSA in seeking to provide a ‘left’ political veneer for the Democratic Party.”

Here is post-primary campaign AOC attacking the GOP, from the right.

“Weak on crime” & “Weak on foreign security” are right-wing talking points, usually weaponized against Democrats.

Unfortunately, AOC isn’t alone in seeming a fraud…

Here’s the rest of the squad currently pushing the new “war on terror”, this time on American soil, against the American people.

AOC cheering on censorship is just the latest part of her real job: popularizing the what the status-quo demands. A common defense of AOC is that she “scares the oligarchs”. The woman that shows up on all these covers is scaring the oligarchs, some of whom own our media? Really?

Regardless of intentions, AOC is effectively serving as the gatekeeper for the establishment. Her impact has been popularizing “progressivism” while covertly limiting the definition of acceptable “progressivism” to her brand of pro-imperialism, pro-DNC, pro-blue-fascism politics. After all, she endorsed Biden, an ostensible fascist. She didn’t even get any meaningful concession for working people in the bargain. She freely endorsed the architect of the modern police and surveillance state, Joe Biden, for a meaningless “taskforce”.
