Biden Lies, So Newsweek Lied.

So, what happened? Did Newsweek decide that the favor of the Democratic establishment and the newly-inaugurated pro-censorship administration was worth sacrificing editorial quality and journalistic reputation? Who can say, really?

“Critics of President Joe Biden are claiming he “lied” about the size and promptness of stimulus checks promised while campaigning in the Georgia runoffs.

The #BidenLied hashtag began trending on Twitter on Sunday after the Democratic Party shared a tweet that outlined Biden’s plans to get $1,400 checks to most Americans—on top of the already agreed $600 payments.

“[Biden] will build on the $600 down payment provided by Congress last year, sending an additional $1,400 to households across America, totaling direct payments to $2,000 per person,” the party posted on Saturday.” – reads an article by Newsweek.

Here’s Biden campaigning during the Georgia runoffs.

And here he is again, same speech, different original source:

Yet, Newsweek decided it was appropriate to gaslight in favor of President Biden and the establishment. https://www.newsweek.com/joe-biden-critics-president-lied-2000-stimulus-checks-1565633

Here’s a saved version of the article, in case they delete it.

As I wrote for Real Progressives, “On multiple levels, Biden’s commitment to neoliberal austerity and the social safety net of prison and war proves his administration a failure for working people in the USA and abroad before day one. “

His further commitment to lies and obfuscation, referred to in the Trump era as “alternative facts”, shouldn’t be surprising for those who know Biden’s record. He had to drop out of the 1988 presidential race for plagiarism.

Newsweek even published an opinion piece during the primaries titled: “Joe Biden’s Plagiarism Is a Danger to America | Opinion”

Here’s a copy of that article, just in case.

So, what happened? Did Newsweek decide that the favor of the Democratic establishment and the newly-inaugurated pro-censorship administration was worth sacrificing editorial quality and journalistic reputation? Who can say, really?
